• Jesus Take The Wheel

This is one of my favourite Carrie Underwood songs. I love the words to it. None of us can do this on our own, we need to give Jesus control and let him guide us to what is right.

    Jesus take the wheel
    Take it from my hands
Cause I can’t do this on my own
    I’m letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I’m on
    Jesus take the wheel

  • Philippians 4:6

My favourite bible verse is Philippians 4:13, but this one from earlier in the chapter is a very close second. It is very close in meaning to verse 13, which is probably why they are both my favourites.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

  • James 4:7

This quote was in Josh Hamilton’s book – Beyond Belief. It is a story of his descent into and recovery from drug addiction, and it was this quote that helped him to recover from the depths of crack addiction while living in his Grandmother’s house.

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

  • 1 Samuel 16:7

I think this verse is particularly apt in our society, where so much value is placed on appearance. It may sound like a cliché to say “It’s what’s on the inside that counts”, but it’s so true.

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

  • Philippians 4:13

This is one of my favourite bible verses, and one I often think about. I am considering getting it tattooed, but I need to decide where.

“I can do all things through God who gives me strength.”

  • Don’t Worry, Be Happy!

I’ve always been quite a worrier, so when Michael Schlact put this quote on Twitter, it seemed perfect! Not much else to say really, other than follow him cos he’s a great guy!

“Worrying is like a rocking chair:
it gives you something to do, but doesn’t get you anywhere.”

  • The Way He Was Raised

When I first listened to this song, I was kind of half listening to the words thinking it was an okay song, then it got to the end and it hit me, all of a sudden it made sense. Now it’s one of my favourite songs, I just love the story and how it builds right to the end.

‘Cause that’s just the way He was raised
When people start to gossip, He’d just walk away
He always loved his neighbor no matter what they’d say
Oh, that’s just the way He was raised

Oh, that’s just the way He was raised
there’s no way we can measure
    The sacrifice He made
He knew He had to die
For our debt to be paid
Oh, that’s just the way He was raised

  • The Shoebox

I love this song by Chris Young, the words are lovely – and it reminds me of the box full of memories that I have collected over the last 10 or so years.

    Don`t forget the little moments
They`re the ones that mean the most
When the way home seems so far away
Take `em out and hold them close
And take a picture with your father
Cause one day he`ll be gone
And don`t forget to fill an old shoe box
Full of things to look back on

  • Merry Christmas

    Luke 2:14
Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests

    Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
